Cyclist Rescued from Snowy River

A 31-year-old cyclist was rescued from the Snowy River at Suggan Buggan in far-east Gippsland after being stranded for four hours.

The Incident Unfolds

The cyclist encountered difficulty while attempting to cross the river just before 8pm. To signal for help, the individual activated a satellite communication device, which alerted the Rescue and Coordination Centre (RCC) with precise location coordinates.

Air Wing Dispatched

The Victoria Police Air Wing helicopter was dispatched for the rescue. Officers involved in the operation located a second cyclist on the riverbank. A rescuer was then winched down to extract the stranded cyclist from the water shortly after midnight.

Outcome and Condition

The cyclist was transported to a hospital for assessment following the rescue. The individual was reported to be uninjured.
