Israeli Missile Strike in Ain Saadeh Kills Three
The town of Ain Saadeh, east of Beirut, experienced an Israeli missile strike on an apartment building. This incident marks a significant escalation for an area previously unaccustomed to such events.
The strike resulted in the deaths of three individuals. Among the casualties were Pierre Mouawad, an official with the Lebanese Forces – a Christian political party opposed to Hezbollah – his wife Flavia Mouawad, and another woman.
An Israeli statement indicated the target was a Hezbollah militant. However, the third-story apartment mentioned as the target was reportedly empty. The critical detail emerged that the missile strike damaged the floor below, where the casualties occurred.
Local residents expressed that such an event was unprecedented in their area, having previously felt secure.
Municipal official Pierre Said noted that the local population is generally against violence, underscoring the community's shock and disapproval.
Israel has stated that it is investigating "reports that several uninvolved individuals were harmed."
