LG C6 OLED Initial Performance Data Released

Initial performance data for the LG C6 OLED television has been released.

The results provide insights into the mid-range OLED model's capabilities, particularly when compared to its predecessors, the LG C5, C4, and C3 OLEDs.

Key Performance Metrics Revealed

Tests conducted on the LG C6 OLED yielded the following key results:

  • SDR Brightness (10% window): 355 nits. (For reference, C5: 335 nits, C4: 296 nits, C3: 237 nits)
  • HDR Brightness (10% window): 1355 nits. (For reference, C5: 1165 nits, C4: 1049 nits, C3: 819 nits)
  • Delta-E: 1.53, indicating excellent color accuracy (lower values signify greater accuracy).
  • Rec. 709 Gamut Coverage: 98.3%
  • UHDA-P3 Gamut Coverage: 99.68% (Standard for HDR color space)
  • Rec. 2020 Gamut Coverage: 76.26% (Widest color gamut tested)
  • Input Lag: 12.9/9.1 ms (Boost mode)

Incremental Improvements Over Predecessors

The LG C6 shows incremental improvements across most categories when compared to the LG C5 and C4 OLEDs. For instance, the C6 is approximately 200 to 300 nits brighter in HDR than the C5 and C4, respectively, alongside slight increases in color coverage percentages.

A more significant performance gap exists when comparing the LG C6 to the LG C3 OLED. The C6 offers approximately 500 nits higher HDR brightness and improved Rec. 2020 color coverage, suggesting a more noticeable upgrade for users of older models.

Awaiting the Full Review

Qualitative aspects such as navigational speed, upscaling, motion handling, and color banding are not quantifiable through these initial test results. A comprehensive review is expected to provide further details on these aspects and offer a full assessment of the LG C6 OLED's overall performance.
