SpaceX Ties IPO Participation to Grok Subscriptions

SpaceX has reportedly established a significant condition for financial institutions and advisory firms seeking to work on its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO): they are required to subscribe to Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot. The IPO was confidentially filed recently and is projected to raise over $50 billion, potentially valuing the company at more than $1 trillion.

Participation in the SpaceX IPO is reportedly contingent on financial and advisory firms subscribing to Grok, Elon Musk's AI chatbot.

The Grok Mandate

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, reportedly mandated that banks, law firms, auditors, and advisors interested in participating in the SpaceX IPO must subscribe to Grok. According to The New York Times, some financial institutions have already agreed to this condition and are preparing to integrate the chatbot into their IT systems. These institutions are reportedly prepared to spend tens of millions of dollars on Grok subscriptions. Musk also reportedly requested these entities to advertise on X, though this particular condition was described as less firm.

Key Institutions Involved

Five major banks are anticipated to be involved in the IPO:

  • Bank of America
  • Citigroup
  • Goldman Sachs
  • JPMorgan Chase
  • Morgan Stanley

Law firms Gibson Dunn and Davis Polk are reportedly providing advisory services for the deal. As part of the agreement, these entities are expected to install Grok on their internal systems.

IPO Projections and Stakes

The SpaceX IPO was confidentially filed earlier this week, marking a significant step towards one of the largest public offerings in recent memory. It is projected to:

  • Raise more than $50 billion.
  • Potentially value the company at over $1 trillion.

Banks involved in the deal stand to earn a substantial sum, with projections indicating over $500 million from their participation.
