Tragic Incident Details
The shooting occurred on Wednesday, around 1 p.m., at the intersection of Humboldt and Moore streets in East Williamsburg. Kaori Patterson-Moore, a 7-month-old infant, was in a stroller accompanied by her mother, father, and 2-year-old brother when shots were fired.
The family sought cover in a nearby bodega following the gunfire. It was there that they subsequently discovered the baby had been shot. The infant's father transported her to Woodhull Hospital, where she was tragically pronounced dead.
Ongoing Investigation
Rodriguez was identified through suspected gang affiliations and fingerprints located on a scooter recovered by police after the shooting. Police indicate that the infant's death is believed to be a tragic consequence of gang violence.
Attorney General Letitia James is scheduled to attend a vigil in honor of the child.
