The crash site is described as a "pretty barren" mountainous area in southwestern Iran. Upon landing, the ejection seat separates from the individual. Woodward estimated that the crew member could only sustain hiding for approximately one to two days due to the limited water supply in their survival pack, indicating a critical timeframe for retrieval.
