Former Turnstile Guitarist Brady Ebert Charged with Attempted Murder
Brady Ebert, former guitarist of the Grammy-winning band Turnstile, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and assault. The charges stem from an incident where he allegedly used his vehicle to strike William Yates, the father of Turnstile's lead vocalist Brendan Yates, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Ebert, 33, was arrested on Tuesday by the Montgomery County Police Department and is currently held without bond.
Incident Details Emerge
The victim, identified by the band as William Yates and by police as a 78-year-old neighbor, sustained severe physical trauma and underwent surgery. He was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, including a broken leg.
Police responded to a hit-and-run report on Sunday afternoon. Authorities allege that Ebert struck the victim with his vehicle during an argument in a driveway and subsequently left the scene. Ebert's vehicle was later located unoccupied with front-end damage, and surveillance footage from the scene led to the issuance of his arrest warrant.
Background and Band's Prior Stance
Turnstile stated they cut ties with Ebert in 2022.
The band cited "a pattern of harmful behavior and threats of violence when healthy communication was no longer possible" as the reason for their separation from Ebert.
A preliminary hearing for Ebert is scheduled for May 1 in Montgomery County District Court. Turnstile is a rock band widely recognized for their 2021 album "Glow On."
