Valve's Latest Data Reveals Steam China Language Shifts and Linux Hardware Trends

Recent data released by Valve details adjustments to Steam China's reported numbers, indicating shifts in language usage among its user base. The statistics also provide updated insights into hardware trends within the Linux gaming community, including Steam OS adoption and AMD CPU usage as of March.

Language Usage Shifts

Valve has made corrections to its Steam China user numbers, coinciding with a month-over-month decrease of 31.85% in Simplified Chinese language usage.

During the same period, English language use increased by 16.82%, reaching 39.09% of the total user base. Other languages also registered gains alongside the decline in Simplified Chinese usage.

Linux Gaming Hardware Statistics

According to March statistics, approximately 25% of Linux gamers utilizing Steam are running Steam OS.

AMD CPU usage among Steam on Linux gamers is reported to be just under 70%. This trend is partly attributed to the custom AMD APU integrated into the Steam Deck and the general preference for AMD hardware within the Linux community, often cited for its open-source characteristics.
