WhatsApp Introduces Native CarPlay Application in Latest Beta
WhatsApp's latest beta build on TestFlight introduces a native CarPlay application, enhancing the app's utility beyond its existing voice-based interface. This update is anticipated to become available to the public in the coming weeks.
The current WhatsApp integration with CarPlay is largely restricted to Siri commands for composing messages or placing voice calls. The revamped experience from Meta, as reported by WABetaInfo, provides a significantly more integrated native CarPlay interface.
This new native CarPlay interface allows users to browse recent chats, view contact details, and initiate messages or calls with less dependence on voice commands.
Key Features of the Updated CarPlay Experience:
- Dedicated Chat List Screen: Displays recent conversations from the past 20 to 25 days. Full chat history cannot be accessed while driving.
- Contact Profile Details: A new interface for viewing contact profile details.
- Call History Interface: Shows recent incoming, outgoing, and missed calls for easy reference.
- Favorite Contacts Support: A dedicated tab for quick access to preferred contacts.
This updated CarPlay experience is presently accessible to a select group of users participating in TestFlight. Information regarding a public release date or any potential feature modifications before launch has not been disclosed.
