Regional Conflict Intensifies: Missile Attacks on Israel and Israeli Strikes in Iran, Lebanon

The Israeli military reported receiving multiple missile attacks from Iran and Yemen on Monday, during which two drones from Yemen were intercepted. Concurrently, Israel's Air Force conducted strikes in Tehran, Iran, and Beirut, Lebanon. Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group claimed responsibility for a second missile and drone attack on Israel, stating it targeted "vital military sites."

Attacks on Israel

The Israeli military reported that Iran launched multiple missile attacks towards Israel on Monday. Simultaneously, an attack originated from Yemen, marking the second such incident since the conflict began. The military further stated that two drones from Yemen were intercepted early Monday, without providing additional details.

Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group claimed responsibility for a second missile and drone attack against Israel. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree issued a statement asserting that the attack targeted "several vital military sites" within Israel. Saree also indicated that this operation occurred concurrently with "military operations being carried out by" Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

This follows an initial attack on Saturday, when the Houthi group reportedly fired missiles at Israel, marking their entry into the ongoing conflict.

Israeli Military Operations

The Israeli military indicated that its Air Force conducted strikes on Tehran, Iran, on Monday, targeting what it identified as military infrastructure. The Associated Press, citing state media, reported that a petrochemical plant in Iran was impacted by a strike.

Separately, the Associated Press also reported an Israeli strike occurred in Beirut, Lebanon's capital.

Broader Context and Regional Events

In Sebeen Square, an area controlled by the Houthi group in Yemen, thousands of demonstrators gathered. Reports indicate participants displayed Iranian flags and portraits of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. These demonstrations were held to protest the alleged killing of Iran’s supreme leader in US and Israeli airstrikes.

The ongoing conflict in the region has been reported to affect global air travel, disrupt oil exports, and contribute to rising fuel prices.
