Qantas Unveils Northern Summer 2026 Intercontinental Network Adjustments
Qantas has announced additional service changes for its intercontinental network, set to take effect for the Northern Summer 2026 season from March 29, 2026. This comprehensive update includes a significant expansion of service to Europe and strategic aircraft changes, notably on the Brisbane – Los Angeles route.
The Northern Summer 2026 season will see Qantas bolstering its European routes and optimizing its fleet across multiple international destinations, alongside various frequency adjustments.
Route Adjustments by City
Brisbane Departures
- Honiara: Service increases from 4 to 5 weekly, operated by Alliance Airlines Embraer E190, effective March 31, 2026.
- Los Angeles: An A330-200 will replace the 787-9 daily from May 18 to July 26, 2026. Service will then reduce from 7 to 5 weekly from August 2 to August 22, 2026.
- Manila: Five weekly A330-200 services will be maintained, an increase from the previously filed 4 weekly, effective March 29, 2026.
- Noumea: Service increases from 3 to 4 weekly, operated by Alliance Airlines Embraer E190, effective March 31, 2026.
- Wellington: A220-300 operations increase from 1 to 3 weekly from April 20 to May 16, 2026, while maintaining an overall 7 weekly service frequency.
- Port Vila: Service increases significantly from 3 to 7 weekly, with Alliance Airlines Embraer E190 replacing the mainline 737-800, effective March 29, 2026.
- Singapore: Ten weekly A330-200/-300 services will be maintained, rather than the initially filed 9 weekly, effective March 29, 2026.
Gold Coast (Coolangatta) Departures
- Auckland: A new route with 3 weekly 737-800 services is set to commence on June 16, 2026.
Auckland gains a direct connection from Gold Coast, with Qantas introducing a new thrice-weekly 737-800 service starting mid-June 2026.
Darwin Departures
- Singapore: Service reduces from 4 to 3 weekly (737-800) during two specific periods: May 5 to June 16, 2026, and August 4 to September 14, 2026.
Melbourne Departures
- Dallas/Ft. Worth: Service reduces from 4 to 3 weekly (787-9) effective May 7, 2026.
- Hong Kong: Service reduces from 7 to 6 weekly (A330-200/-300) from May 5 to June 16, 2026.
- Honolulu: The previously scheduled 5 weekly A330 services remain cancelled, effective March 29, 2026.
Melbourne's planned Honolulu services are definitively cancelled, while key routes to Dallas/Ft. Worth and Hong Kong will see temporary frequency reductions.
Perth Departures
- London Heathrow: Daily 787-9 westbound departures will operate via Singapore until July 25, 2026.

QF233 operates SYD1400 – 2030SIN2210 – 0600+1 (except Thursdays, Sundays) and QF234 operates CDG0915 – 0425+1SIN0620+1 – 1600+1SYD (except Mondays, Fridays).
A major strategic shift sees Qantas introduce a new Sydney-Singapore-Paris CDG route, replacing the Perth stopover for enhanced European access via Singapore.
