RLWC2026 Team of the Week Announced; Includes Players from Seven Nations

The RLWC2026 Team of the Week, selected by fan vote from nominated players in the NRL and Super League who are eligible for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup, has been announced.

Team of the Week: Seven Nations Represented

The latest Team of the Week features players from seven nations, with Samoa and New Zealand each contributing three players to the squad.

Australia: The two Australian players in contention for the Kangaroos are Dolphins winger Jack Bostock (who made his State of Origin debut for New South Wales) and Warriors prop Jackson Ford. Other Australian-based players include England centre Herbie Farnworth and lock Alex Seyfarth (who plans to represent England).

Papua New Guinea: Winger Alex Johnston (Rabbitohs) was selected after scoring four tries against the Brisbane Broncos.

Fiji: Sione Fainu (Wests Tigers) was named in the second row for the first time.

Tonga: Halfback Isaiya Katoa (Dolphins) is a representative in the squad.

Dolphins: The club provides six players to the team: Bostock, Farnworth, Kiwis winger Jamayne Isaako, hooker Jeremy Marshall-King, Samoa second-rower Connelly Lemeulu, and Katoa.

Samoa: Other Samoan representatives include Jarome Luai and Terrell May (both Wests Tigers).

New Zealand: Representatives include fullback Keano Kini (Titans), Marshall-King, and Isaako.

Nominated Players for Upcoming Selection

According to the selection process, players from the NRL and Super League are nominated weekly for the fan vote. For the upcoming round, the following notable players were nominated:

  • England and Dolphins: Herbie Farnworth, Morgan Knowles
  • Warrington: George Williams (joining the Dolphins after the World Cup)
  • New Zealand Kiwis: James Fisher-Harris (Warriors), Jordan Riki (Broncos), Joe Chan (Storm)
  • France: Lenny Marc (Catalans), who scored a match-winning try against Hull KR
  • Samoa: Payne Haas (Broncos), Junior Paulo (Eels), Jaydn Su’A (Dragons), Jazz Tevaga (Wakefield)
  • Tonga: Isaiya Katoa (Dolphins), Jason Taumalolo (Cowboys)
  • Other Notables: Second-rowers Hudson Young (Raiders), Jacob Preston (Bulldogs), Liam Martin (Panthers); Sua Fa’alogo (Storm), Brian To’o (Panthers), Murray Taulagi (Cowboys), Josh Addo-Carr (Kangaroos), Mitchell Moses (Eels), and Dylan Walker (Eels)

Selection Process and Changes

The RLWC2026 Team of the Week is announced every Wednesday. It is determined by fan vote from a shortlist of eligible players.

Kangaroos stars Harry Grant, Latrell Mitchell, and Cameron Murray were not shortlisted for the first time following Round 3 (NRL) and Round 5 (Super League) matches. They had led the polling in their respective positions after the first two rounds.
