Mac Trade-Ins Surge Following MacBook Neo and M5 Air Launch
Apple has experienced a significant increase in Mac trade-ins this week, coinciding with the launch of the new MacBook Neo and M5 MacBook Air models.
A source indicated that the volume of Mac trade-ins at Apple retail stores rose by over 100% compared to previous weeks.
Most of the devices traded in were identified as older, lower-end models.
This increase suggests that customers are primarily upgrading to the MacBook Neo and M5 MacBook Air, rather than the newer MacBook Pro models featuring M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
The scale of this increase differs from most prior Mac product launches, where trade-in surges are typically smaller. Evidence indicates that this is the largest surge in Mac trade-ins since the introduction of the first Apple silicon Macs between 2020 and 2021.
