Epic Games Adjusts Fortnite V-Bucks Value and In-Game Item Costs

View source

Epic Games has announced significant changes to the value of V-Bucks, the in-game currency for Fortnite, and adjusted the prices of several associated in-game items. These modifications are scheduled to become effective on March 19, with the company citing increased operational costs as the reason for the adjustments.

V-Bucks Price Adjustments

Starting March 19, players will receive fewer V-Bucks for the same real-world currency amounts.

While retail prices for V-Bucks packs will remain consistent, the quantity of V-Bucks obtained will decrease.

These changes, specifically detailed with US dollar amounts, will apply across all platforms where Fortnite is available.

The updated V-Bucks bundle yields are as follows:

  • An $8.99 purchase will now provide 800 V-Bucks, a reduction from the previous 1,000 V-Bucks.
  • A $22.99 purchase will now provide 2,400 V-Bucks, a reduction from 2,800 V-Bucks.
  • A $36.99 purchase will now provide 4,500 V-Bucks, a reduction from 5,000 V-Bucks.
  • An $89.99 purchase will now provide 12,500 V-Bucks, a reduction from 13,500 V-Bucks.

Additionally, the cost for an increment of 50 V-Bucks will increase from approximately $0.50 to $0.99.

Adjustments to In-Game Item Costs and Subscriptions

In conjunction with the V-Bucks adjustments, Epic Games is reducing the V-Bucks cost for several in-game items and adjusting subscription benefits.

The changes include:

  • Battle Pass: The cost will decrease from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks. Upon completion, the Battle Pass will award 800 V-Bucks, down from a potential 1,500 V-Bucks that included bonus rewards. The 500 V-Bucks previously available through the Bonus Rewards system will no longer be offered.
  • Battle Bundle: The price will decrease from 2,800 V-Bucks to 2,600 V-Bucks.
  • OG Pass: The price will decrease from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks.
  • Music Pass: The price will decrease from 1,400 V-Bucks to 1,200 V-Bucks.
  • LEGO Pass: The price will decrease from 1,400 V-Bucks to 1,200 V-Bucks.

For Fortnite Crew monthly subscribers, the V-Bucks stipend included with the subscription will be reduced from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks. Subscribers are expected to receive email notifications regarding these changes.

Epic Rewards Program

Epic Games' rewards program, Epic Rewards, will continue to offer players a 20 percent credit back on eligible purchases, including V-Bucks, made within Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League.

This credit is applicable when transactions are processed through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s proprietary payment system across PC, iOS, Android, and web. Accumulated credit can be used for future purchases within Fortnite, other Epic Games titles, or on the Epic Games Store. V-Bucks gift cards purchased before the March 19 effective date will retain their original stated value.
