MAHA Institute Advocates for Elimination of Childhood Vaccination Schedule

Leaders of the MAHA Institute, a think tank associated with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have publicly called for the elimination of the childhood vaccination schedule and the removal of all vaccines from the market. These statements were made during a panel discussion on "Massive Epidemic of Vaccine Injury" held in Washington, D.C.

Institute Calls for Elimination of Vaccination Schedule

During the panel, Mark Gorton, president of the MAHA Institute, made a direct appeal:

"The childhood vaccination schedule should be eliminated and all vaccines removed from the market until their safety and effectiveness can be proven."

Del Bigtree, Kennedy’s former communications manager, also spoke at the event, asserting that vaccines cause autism and that measles infection reduces the risk of cancer.

Claims Disputed by Experts and Science

These assertions are widely disputed by the scientific community. Experts firmly state that scientific studies have not established a link between vaccinations and autism, despite rising autism rates being attributed to various factors, including environmental exposures and improved diagnostic criteria.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) underscores that the measles vaccine is both safe and effective. Introduced in 1963, the vaccine preceded a significant reduction in annual measles deaths in the U.S., demonstrating its public health impact.

Political Landscape and MAHA's Agenda

The event unfolded as the MAHA movement actively seeks to influence policy in Washington, D.C., with reports indicating engagements with senior government officials.

However, the political landscape for such views appears complex. A memo from President Donald Trump’s main pollster reportedly labeled vaccine skepticism as "politically risky," highlighting potential "electoral downsides."

Despite these political considerations, the MAHA Institute showed no hesitation in advancing its anti-vaccine agenda. Gorton’s presentation included slides bearing provocative titles such as:

  • “The Polio Fraud”
  • “The flu shot has given 1,900,000 Americans Alzheimer’s”
  • “VACCINES ARE THE GREATEST SCAM IN MEDICAL HISTORY”

Gorton further claimed that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had commissioned over 100 studies into vaccine injuries, a number he attributed to Kennedy's expressed desire for more vaccine research. HHS did not immediately provide comment on whether it was conducting new studies on vaccine injuries.

New Slogan: "Massive Epidemic of Vaccine Injury" (MEVI)

The event also served as a platform to introduce and promote a new slogan: "Massive Epidemic of Vaccine Injury." Speakers at the event shortened this to MEVI, aiming to provide a more specific term for chronic disease concerns they highlight.
