The M5-SoC features a diverse array of processing units:

Super Cores: The chip incorporates six super cores, capable of clocking up to 4.608 GHz. These cores were previously identified as Performance cores in the regular M5-SoC iteration.

New Performance M-cores: Additionally, the M5-SoC includes new Performance cores, specifically optimized for enhanced multi-threaded performance. These operate at speeds of up to 4.38 GHz.
The system officially designates these new units as M-cores, positioning their performance characteristics strategically between the powerful super cores and the M5 SoC's efficiency cores.
CPU Power Consumption
Comprehensive testing has shed light on the M5-SoC's power consumption profile, detailing both its peak potential and sustained operational limits within Apple's devices.
The CPU recorded a maximum power consumption of 75 Watts.
However, neither the 14-inch MacBook Pro nor the 16-inch MacBook Pro was able to sustain this 75-Watt peak during prolonged, intensive operation.
- The 14-inch MacBook Pro consistently maintained approximately 50 Watts under load.
- The 16-inch MacBook Pro achieved a sustained 62 Watts when operating in its dedicated High Power mode.
