Apple's 'HomePad': New Leaks Detail Magnetic Mount, AI Focus, and 2026 Release
A leaker and prototype collector known as "Kosutami" has reported new details about an upcoming Apple device, internally referred to as "HomePad." According to Kosutami, a prototype of the HomePad features a magnetic snap-to-wall capability, similar to MagSafe, and integrates with doorbells. This device is also said to heavily rely on Apple Intelligence. Kosutami stated they observed this prototype firsthand.
Core Functionality and Design
Apple has reportedly been developing the device for several years. Its intended function is to serve as a central hub for smart home control, media consumption (music and podcasts), video calls, and displaying information such as weather and calendar events. The HomePad is expected to include a 7-inch square display and a front-facing camera.
Kosutami informed MacRumors that while "HomePad" is currently used internally, it may not be the final product name upon launch.
Revised Release Timeline
The HomePad is now anticipated for release in the fall of 2026.
Earlier in the week, Kosutami indicated a significant shift in the device's launch schedule. The HomePad is now expected for release in the fall of 2026. This period, from September to December, typically aligns with Apple's primary product launch schedule.
The device was initially rumored for an early 2025 release. However, delays associated with Apple Intelligence reportedly shifted its launch to early 2026, and subsequently to its current projection of fall 2026. This rumored timeframe suggests the HomePad could be introduced alongside products such as the iPhone 18 Pro in September or redesigned MacBook Pro models in October.
