Venus and Saturn Conjunction Visible This Weekend

View source

This weekend, sky watchers can observe a planetary conjunction of Venus and Saturn. The two planets will appear close together when viewed from Earth.

Viewing Details

On March 7 and March 8, Venus and Saturn will be approximately one degree apart. Viewers should look towards the western horizon 30 to 40 minutes after sunset. Venus will be the brighter and slightly larger of the two planets.

Optimal Observation

For enhanced viewing, binoculars are recommended.
Finding a location with minimal light pollution will also improve visibility.

What is a Planetary Conjunction?

A planetary conjunction occurs when two or more planets appear close together from Earth's perspective.

Despite their apparent proximity during a conjunction, Venus and Saturn will remain about 800 million miles apart in actual space.
