Washington Commanders Address Center Position and Fan Confidence in GM Peters

Washington Commanders Survey Insights

Recent survey results from Hogs Haven readers indicate fan perspectives on the Washington Commanders' roster changes and general manager confidence following the 2025 season. These insights offer a valuable snapshot of the fanbase's expectations and concerns heading into the next offseason.

Center Position Replacement

Tyler Biadasz's Departure

The Commanders made a significant roster move by releasing starting center Tyler Biadasz, who subsequently signed with the Chargers. This decision followed a shake-up in the offensive coaching staff, including the departure of offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury in January and the firing of offensive line coach Bobby Johnson.

Biadasz's pass blocking performance had drawn criticism, particularly in the latter half of the 2025 season. His reported pressure rates highlight these concerns:

  • Week 9: 2 hurries in 36 pass blocking snaps (5.6% Pressure Rate).
  • Week 10: 1 hurry and 1 sack in 28 dropbacks (7.1% Pressure Rate).
  • Week 13: 2 QB hurries (3.4% Pressure Rate).
  • Week 14: 2 QB hurries (5.9% Pressure Rate).
  • Week 16: 1 sack and 1 hurry (7.4% Pressure Rate).

For the entire 2025 season, Biadasz allowed pressure on 3.6% of dropbacks. Offensive changes under new offensive coordinator David Blough—including more under-center formations, less no-huddle, and a potential primary zone blocking scheme—may have contributed to Biadasz's release.

Replacement Strategy

Nick Allegretti, who stepped in for Biadasz at the end of the 2025 season, recently signed a contract extension, making him a current roster option for the starting center role. Other avenues for finding a replacement include free agency, the draft, or potential trades.

Hogs Haven survey respondents indicated strong support for signing a veteran free agent to be the team's 2026 starting center. Top free-agent centers identified by respondents include Lloyd Cushenberry, Conner McGovern, Ethan Pocic, Cade Mays, and Tyler Lindebaum.

96% of respondents did not vote for a drafted rookie to replace Biadasz, suggesting a belief that high draft picks will not be used on the center position and that a starter is unlikely to be found in later draft rounds.

Confidence in General Manager Adam Peters

Survey Results

In a recent survey, Hogs Haven readers rated their confidence in General Manager Adam Peters, who is entering his third year. The results were similar to a previous survey conducted two months prior:

  • 60% of respondents were "confident" or "absolutely confident" in Peters.
  • Only 9% of respondents were "deeply worried" or had "zero confidence."

Despite overall support, approximately one-third of respondents expressed doubts following the 2025 season and desire different offseason strategies and improved results in the 2026 regular season.

Some individuals have stated that playoff qualification in 2026 is a minimum standard for full fan confidence in Head Coach Dan Quinn and GM Adam Peters.

Offseason Activity and Cap Space

General Manager Adam Peters has been active in adjusting the roster for players from the 2025 season. He has made two cuts and extended eight other players:

Cuts

  • C Tyler Biadasz
  • CB Marshon Lattimore

Extensions

  • P Tress Way
  • K Jake Moody
  • OL Andrew Wylie
  • OL Nick Allegretti (early extension)
  • DL Shy Tuttle
  • DL Deatrich Wise
  • DL Drake Jackson
  • WR Treylon Burks

The Commanders currently have 56 players under contract and 6 draft picks. With $87.6 million in cap space, which is the 4th most in the league, Peters has approximately $75 million in 2026 cap space available for veteran free agency after accounting for draft pick signings and in-season contingency funds.
