Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Officially Announced, Set for July 2026

A remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, titled Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, has been officially confirmed by Ubisoft with a scheduled release date of July 9, 2026. The announcement follows months of speculation, leaks, and the brief appearance of a product listing on the Ubisoft launcher.

Official Announcement and Release Date

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled for release on July 9, 2026. According to information provided to media and content creators, the game is being described as a completely reworked, character-driven solo adventure. The project eschews the RPG mechanics found in more recent entries in the franchise. A Kenway statue, previously leaked in relation to the project, has been confirmed to still be in development.

The game's official reveal was initially planned for April 16, 2025. That event has been postponed and is now scheduled for the following week.

Leaked Listing and Prior Reports

Prior to the official confirmation, a product listing for "Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced" appeared briefly on the Ubisoft launcher. The listing was subsequently removed, but screenshots captured by users showed a new outfit for the protagonist, Edward Kenway. The listing included the description: "Set sail for the Caribbean. (Re)play this classic swashbuckling adventure on Day 1 with Ubisoft+ Premium."

Earlier in April 2025, a report by Insider Gaming indicated that an announcement for the remake was planned for mid-April. The report also suggested a potential release in the summer of 2025, a timeline that has since been contradicted by the official July 2026 release date.

Development Background and Context

Ubisoft has previously confirmed the remake is in development. This confirmation came after periods of concern regarding the project's status, following Ubisoft's announcement of a company restructuring. A separate rating leak has also been reported, which indicated the existence of new content for the remake.

Development of the remake has been attributed to Ubisoft Singapore. The game is an updated version of the 2013 title Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which featured an open-world Caribbean setting and naval combat.

Current Status

Ubisoft has not released specific details regarding the full scope of the remake's features or the platforms on which it will be released.
