Patriots Reportedly Move On From Stefon Diggs, Eyeing Prominent Replacements

The New England Patriots are reportedly moving on from wide receiver Stefon Diggs and are considering replacements. Reports indicate that New England is interested in prominent players in the market, with an alleged readiness to spend significantly.

Diggs' Departure: Performance and Cap Concerns

Diggs recorded 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in his sole season with the Patriots, contributing to the team's Super Bowl appearance.

The decision to part ways with the 32-year-old is attributed to a projected $26.5 million cap hit in 2026.

Internally, some viewed Diggs as a declining player, while others considered his contract fair enough for him to remain. Diggs was reportedly unwilling to restructure his contract.

Potential Replacements Emerge

Among the players of interest is Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce. Pierce's 2025 statistics included 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns, despite missing two games. At 25 years old, Pierce is coming off his rookie deal and has a market value of $20.2 million per year, according to Spotrac.

Another player linked to the Patriots is Brown, who was connected to the team prior to Diggs' departure. Brown recorded 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games last season.
