SpaceX Achieves Double Falcon 9 Launch on Sunday, Deploying 54 Starlink Satellites

SpaceX successfully conducted two Falcon 9 launches on Sunday, March 1st, deploying a total of 54 new Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit, with both first-stage boosters successfully recovered.

West Coast Launch Success

A Falcon 9 rocket launched from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California at 2:10 a.m. PT. This mission, designated Starlink 17-23, deployed 25 Starlink satellites.

The first-stage booster for this mission completed its 20th successful flight. Following stage separation, the booster landed on the drone ship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean. The 25 Starlink satellites were deployed approximately an hour after liftoff.

East Coast Launch and Recovery

A second Falcon 9 rocket launched from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida a few hours later.

The first-stage booster for this East Coast mission completed its 26th flight. The booster successfully landed on the drone ship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean. The second stage deployed 29 Starlink satellites into their target orbit.

Operational Cadence Demonstrated

This double-launch event powerfully demonstrates SpaceX's operational capability to conduct multiple orbital rocket launches across different sites within a short timeframe. This remarkable feat significantly supports the rapid expansion of the Starlink network and the continued reuse of Falcon 9 boosters.
