Atlanta Falcons 2026 Schedule Highlights: Opener, Prime-Time Slate, & Madrid Game

The Falcons' 2026 regular-season schedule features a season opener on the road, a home opener against a division rival, three consecutive prime-time games, and an international game in Madrid, Spain.

Season Opener

The Falcons will begin their 2026 season on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams enter the season with new head coaches and unresolved quarterback situations. The Steelers have not confirmed the playing status of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Falcons have a quarterback competition between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa.

Home Opener

In Week 2, the Falcons will host the Carolina Panthers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Panthers are the defending NFC South champions.

Prime-Time Games

The Falcons have three consecutive prime-time games from Week 3 to Week 5:

  • A Thursday Night Football game at the Green Bay Packers
  • A Monday Night Football game at the New Orleans Saints
  • A Sunday Night Football home game against the Baltimore Ravens

Additional prime-time slots may be added via flexible scheduling for Weeks 16 and 18.

International Game

In Week 9, the Falcons will host the Cincinnati Bengals in Madrid, Spain. The game is expected to be classified as a home game for the Falcons, who will play eight additional home games in Atlanta that season. NFC teams are allocated nine home games in 2026.

The game is slated to occur at Bernabéu, the home stadium of soccer team Real Madrid.

The NFL confirmed the Falcons' participation in the previously announced Madrid game. Two of the Falcons' 2026 home opponents, the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs, hold international marketing rights in Spain, which positioned them as possible opponents for the Madrid event. Other teams with existing international games, such as the Lions, 49ers, and Saints, were excluded as potential opponents.

A specific date has not yet been announced, but it is anticipated to follow the standard 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff time for NFL games in Europe.

This will be the Falcons' sixth regular-season game outside the United States and fifth in Europe.

The NFL intends to host a total of nine international games in 2026. Locations include Madrid, Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Munich, Mexico City, and three games in London.
