West Coast Eagles High Performance Manager Phil Merriman has provided an update on several players' progress as they aim for availability in the club's round one clash against Gold Coast.
Round One Contention
A group of senior players is progressing with a view to be available for the season opener.
- Liam Duggan (Co-captain): Has progressed through concussion protocols and will return to main training this week.
- Jack Graham (Midfielder): Nearing the end of hamstring rehabilitation, will train with the group this week, and is aiming for round one availability.
- Tim Kelly (Midfielder): Recovering from a minor hamstring complaint, will build through gears this week and rejoin the main group next week, targeting round one availability.
- Reuben Ginbey (Developing Star): Began his reload this week after a week off for a sore toe joint, with hopes to rejoin main training and be available for round one.
- Brandon Starcevich (Defender): Progressing through his reconditioning program following a calf issue. He is considered a chance for round one, with a careful approach taken due to his injury history.

- Harry Edwards (Defender): Continues to work through concussion protocols, with his return to play yet to be confirmed.
- Bailey Williams (Ruckman): Set to resume full training this week following a groin concern, will spend upcoming weeks building his football load.
- Tom Gross: Continues to build toward a return, increasing his running velocities.
- Fred Rodriguez (Draftee): Has begun his Alter-G running program as he recovers from a foot injury.
