The National Society of Film Critics is currently conducting its annual voting to determine the year's cinematic achievements.
Established in 1966, the society comprises over 60 critics representing various prominent national media outlets. The annual awards cover categories including:
- Best Picture
- Best Director
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Supporting Actor
- Best Supporting Actress
- Best Screenplay
- Best Cinematography
Voting Process
The voting procedure utilizes a weighted ballot system. Members select their top three choices for each category, with the first choice receiving three points, the second choice two points, and the third choice one point. A nominee secures a win by achieving both the highest total points and appearing on a majority of the submitted ballots. Should a winner not be determined on the initial ballot, subsequent rounds of voting are conducted until these criteria are met.
Previous Awards
In the preceding year, "Nickel Boys" was awarded Best Picture. Additionally, "Hard Truths," "A Real Pain," and "All We Imagine as Light" each received two awards.
The results of the current year's voting will be announced as they are finalized.
