Daine Laurie Faces NRL Review Despite Charges Being Withdrawn
Canberra Raiders recruit Daine Laurie is anticipated to be subject to an investigation by the National Rugby League (NRL) regarding an incident from Mad Monday last year.
Incident Details Unfold
On September 29, Laurie was charged by NSW Police after being stopped on Memorial Avenue in Penrith. Police reportedly found 0.37 grams of cocaine in the vehicle where Laurie was a passenger. The alleged incident occurred the day after the Penrith Panthers, Laurie's former club, lost their preliminary final.

Legal Resolution Reached
The charge against Laurie was subsequently withdrawn in court. Following legal representation, a criminal infringement notice (CIN) for a $400 fine was issued instead. Laurie's solicitor stated this was an appropriate action under new NSW government laws. The charge was withdrawn on November 10, with the court making no adverse findings of wrongdoing against Laurie.
NRL Integrity Unit Reviewing Matter
Despite the charges being dropped, the NRL's Integrity Unit is reportedly reviewing the matter. A spokesperson for the Panthers, Laurie's former club, confirmed ongoing discussions with the NRL. The Canberra Raiders, Laurie's current club, have declined to comment on the situation.
