These include the loss of his mother at a young age, a near-death experience, and a knee injury that previously delayed his NRL debut. As a father of two, Tu made considerable sacrifices during the pre-season to achieve his dream.
Tu made an immediate impact, scoring a try in the 59th minute of his debut match. He wore his birth name, Tulelei Tu, embroidered on his jersey, honoring his grandfather and his late mother, Sinaletuna. Tu was raised in Saleimoa, Samoa, by a supportive community that included family and elders.

His rugby league journey truly began after moving to Auckland at age 15 with his older brother, Rob, who supported his aspirations after their mother’s passing.
