Garoppolo Draws Interest From Multiple NFL Teams

Jimmy Garoppolo, who last started as quarterback for the Raiders before being benched during the 2023 season, is reportedly being considered by multiple NFL teams.

Cardinals Among Suitors, LaFleur Connection Noted

The Arizona Cardinals have shown interest in Garoppolo, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

This interest is potentially influenced by new head coach Mike LaFleur, who worked with Garoppolo during his two seasons as Matthew Stafford's understudy with the Los Angeles Rams. An unnamed source noted LaFleur's favorable opinion of Garoppolo.

Potential Reunion with Brissett in Arizona

The Cardinals' current quarterback roster includes Jacoby Brissett, whose contract extends to 2026. Brissett is set to earn $5.44 million in 2026, with an additional $1 million if he plays 50 percent of snaps and another $1 million if he plays 65 percent or more. A $1.5 million portion of Brissett's base salary will become fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2026 league year.

If Garoppolo signs with the Cardinals, it would reunite him with Brissett, as they split four starts for the New England Patriots during Tom Brady's 2016 suspension.

Rams, Packers Also Reportedly Considering Garoppolo

The Los Angeles Rams are also reportedly open to Garoppolo returning as the backup to Matthew Stafford. Additionally, Garoppolo is a candidate to replace Malik Willis as the No. 2 quarterback to Jordan Love in Green Bay.

Career Highlights and Salary Overview

Garoppolo has accumulated 64 career starts, predominantly during his five-plus seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He notably led the team to the Super Bowl in 2019.

His salary for the 2023 season with the Rams was $3 million, a decrease from his 2018 contract with the 49ers, which temporarily made him the league's highest-paid player at $27.5 million per year.
