Eugene King Jr., Paula Deen's 1987 Robber, Found Deceased
Eugene Thomas King Jr., who was convicted of robbing celebrity chef Paula Deen at gunpoint in 1987, was found deceased in his Brooklyn apartment on Thursday.
The NYPD reported responding to a 911 call just after 5 PM on Thursday, where King was discovered unconscious and unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is currently investigating the cause of King's death.
Past Incident with Paula Deen
King's past involvement with Paula Deen stemmed from a 1987 incident. During the robbery, he held a gun to Deen's temple while she worked as a bank teller. He was subsequently convicted for the crime.
In 2013, King publicly apologized to Deen for the fear he caused her and expressed regret for his actions.
