Nate Ament Sustains Right Leg Injury Against Alabama
During Tennessee basketball's game against Alabama, freshman Nate Ament sustained an injury to his right leg. Ament initially exited the game in the first half, returned for the second half, and then departed permanently.
Tennessee coach Rick Barnes stated that Ament's injury involved both his knee and the ankle previously injured during a game against Missouri.
Game Day Incident
Ament scored two points on 1-for-5 shooting against Alabama. He exited the game at the 7:42 mark of the first half after an Alabama player rolled onto his left knee while pursuing a loose ball. Following evaluation and stretching in the tunnel, he did not return for the remainder of the first half.
Ament rejoined the lineup after halftime but left again with 17:53 remaining in the second half. He was subsequently ruled doubtful to return and spent the rest of the game on the bench.
Player Performance Leading Up to Injury
Prior to this game, Ament had been a significant contributor, averaging 17.9 points. He had scored at least 20 points in six of his last ten games. Demonstrating consistent offensive output, he had also achieved double-digit scoring in every game since January 6.
