The Deepal S07 is an electric vehicle (EV) that presents notable design and functional characteristics. The vehicle notably lacks a traditional instrument panel, with information primarily displayed via a head-up display (HUD) on the windscreen and a small digital readout on the central touchscreen. Polarized sunglasses may obstruct the HUD visibility for some drivers.

Safety Features
Achieving a five-star safety rating, the Deepal S07 is equipped with seven airbags, advanced emergency braking, and a comprehensive lane support system for enhanced occupant protection.
The S07 has a five-star safety rating. It includes seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system, and a center airbag for added front seat occupant protection during side impacts. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) supports car-to-car, vulnerable road user, junction and crossing, backover, and head-on situations. The lane support system comprises lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), and emergency lane keeping (ELK). An advanced speed assistance system (SAS) with speed sign recognition is also included. The rear seating area provides three tethers and two ISOFix anchors for child seats.
Powertrain and Performance
A single electric motor drives the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission, producing 160kW of power and 320Nm of torque. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds. An 80kWh ternary lithium battery provides a claimed driving range of up to 475km (WLTP).
DC charging from 30 to 80 percent takes approximately 35 minutes, or 10 to 80 percent in 50 minutes, with a maximum DC charging rate of 92kW. AC charging from 0 to 100 percent takes 11 hours with a 7kW charger or about eight hours with an 11kW charger. Regenerative braking is featured, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.
Driving Experience
The S07 measures 4750mm long, 1930mm wide, and has a 2900mm wheelbase, resulting in a spacious cabin with a flat floor. The luggage area offers 445 liters of capacity with the rear seats in use, expanding to 1385 liters when folded. An additional 125 liters are available under the bonnet.
While offering a spacious cabin and convenient features like walk-away locking, the S07's driving experience is impacted by its reliance on the central touchscreen for functions and a ride quality that can degrade on varied road surfaces.
The vehicle features walk-away locking and unlocking, and lacks a traditional start button; operation begins by placing the transmission into drive via a gear selector on the right of the steering column. The camera monitor above the steering wheel does not compensate for the absence of an instrument cluster. Most vehicle functions are operated through the central touchscreen, which can distract drivers while the vehicle is in motion. The air-conditioning system's effectiveness in hot conditions was noted as not being on par with some competitors, and it lacks physical controls for temperature adjustment.
The manufacturer's claimed energy consumption is 18.6kWh/100km; actual testing indicated a consumption rate of 15.8 kWh/100km over 325km. The ride quality is described as acceptable in urban environments but degrades on varied road surfaces, exhibiting bounciness over undulations and speed humps. The column gear selector, located where indicators are typically found, could lead to user confusion. The driver assist monitoring system was not found to be overly intrusive.
Warranty and Servicing
The S07 comes with a seven-year/160,000km warranty and an eight-year/240,000km battery warranty. Service intervals are 10,000km or 12 months, following an initial complimentary service at 5,000km or six months. Fixed-price servicing is available for seven and a half years or 75,000km.
