DOJ: Tariff Refunds to Require Processing Time

The Justice Department announced that businesses seeking refunds for tariffs previously struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court will require time to process. This information was detailed in court documents filed by the department on Friday.

The Justice Department did not indicate any plans to request a rehearing of the case by the Supreme Court.

Trump Questions "Windfall" and Rehearing

Former President Donald Trump weighed in on Truth Social, stating that it "doesn’t make sense" for countries and companies that "took advantage of us for decades" to receive an "undeserved ‘windfall’" due to the ruling. Trump also questioned if a "Rehearing or Readjudication of this case possible???"

Companies Pursue Refunds

Following the Supreme Court's decision last week to strike down many of the tariffs, numerous companies have initiated legal actions to seek refunds. This adds to the hundreds that had already filed lawsuits in anticipation of the ruling.
