Browns Eye Carson Beck: A Potential Reunion with OC Todd Monken
The Cleveland Browns, who currently have three quarterbacks on their roster, are reportedly considering drafting another signal-caller in the upcoming draft. Carson Beck, a quarterback from the University of Miami, has emerged as a potential candidate, primarily due to his previous collegiate association with Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken.
A Shared History: Background with Coach Monken
Beck played for three years at the University of Georgia, where Todd Monken served as the offensive coordinator for 34 of Beck's games during that period. During his tenure at Georgia under Monken, Beck recorded 7,736 passing yards, 56 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions.
The connection between Beck and Monken runs deep, extending beyond their time at Georgia. Beck has acknowledged a long-standing relationship, stating he has known Monken since the age of 7 or 8, having played baseball with Monken's son when Monken was a wide receivers coach for the Jaguars.
Beck has credited Monken with teaching him "a lot of what I know" during their time together at Georgia.
NFL Draft Process and Player's Perspective
As part of the NFL Draft process, Beck has conducted a formal interview with the Browns. He has also met with representatives from other NFL teams, including the Jets, Steelers, and Dolphins.
Regarding the prospect of being drafted by the Browns and reuniting with Monken, Beck expressed gratitude for any opportunity to be drafted.
He also indicated appreciation for the possibility of Monken serving as his coach again, referencing his positive experience learning from him at the University of Georgia.
