China Removes Nine Military Officials Ahead of Annual Meeting

China's top legislature has removed nine military officials from its list of deputies. This action occurred ahead of Beijing’s annual political meeting, as reported by state news agency Xinhua.

Details of the Removals

The removed deputies include five full generals, one lieutenant general, and three major generals.

The identified full generals are:

  • Li Wei, political commissar of the information support force
  • Li Qiaoming, ground forces commander
  • Shen Jinlong, former navy commander
  • Qin Shengxiang, former navy political commissar
  • Yu Zhongfu, former air force political commissar

Additionally, Lieutenant General Wang Donghai, political commissar of the Central Military Commission’s (CMC) National Defence Mobilisation Department, was removed. Also removed were Major Generals Bian Ruifeng of the CMC, Ding Laifu of the ground forces, and Yang Guang of the rocket force.
