Perth Train Delays: Lightning Strikes Disrupt Peak Hour Commute

Train services across Perth experienced significant cancellations this morning, severely impacting peak hour commuters. The disruptions were attributed to lightning strikes affecting the network's crucial signalling system.

Cause of Disruptions

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) stated that lightning strikes, a result of the morning's thunderstorms, affected the train network's signalling system.

Lines Impacted

Cancellations occurred on the Mandurah Line, specifically between Elizabeth Quay and Aubin Grove. Disruptions also extended to the Yanchep and Thornlie-Cockburn lines.

Resolution and Ongoing Delays

By 9:35 AM, the PTA announced that the issue had been resolved and train services were expected to resume shortly. Despite the overall resolution, delays continued to affect the Thornlie-Cockburn line. Commuters were advised to allow for extra travelling time as the network worked to fully recover.
