Spain: Officers Storm Parliament in 1981 Coup Attempt

On February 23, 1981, a group of officers, led by Tejero, entered the main chamber of the national parliament in Spain.

They carried weapons and issued threats to politicians during the swearing-in ceremony of a new government.

The objective of this action was to re-establish authoritarian rule, six years after the death of the country's dictator, Francisco Franco.
