Appomattox Residents Michele and Sage Blair Invited to State of the Union
Two Appomattox residents, Michele and Sage Blair, have been invited to attend the State of the Union speech in Washington, D.C.
Background to the Invitation
The invitation comes amidst ongoing legal action initiated by Michele Blair. In 2023, Michele Blair filed a lawsuit against several Appomattox County Schools officials.
The lawsuit claims that officials concealed information regarding Sage's gender identity and bullying, which allegedly contributed to Sage's decision to run away.
Following Sage's disappearance, Michele Blair stated that Sage was subsequently kidnapped, raped, and sex-trafficked across state lines.
National Discussion on Parental Rights
Vernadette Broyles, representing Michele Blair through the Child & Parental Rights Campaign, released a statement regarding the invitation. Broyles indicated that the invitation to the State of the Union address highlights a national discussion concerning parental involvement and child safety.
