Powerhouse Museum Collects Global Messages for Deep Space Transmission

The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, in collaboration with the HUMANS Deep Space Message project, is collecting messages for deep space transmission. This initiative commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Voyager mission's initial launch.

The project has gathered over 2,000 message submissions from participants across more than 83 countries, submitted in 68 different languages.

Project Overview

The HUMANS Deep Space Message project aims to compile contemporary messages for a new space launch, echoing the Voyager mission which sent sounds of Earth into the galaxy nearly 50 years ago. The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney is facilitating the collection of these messages.

According to Lisa Havilah, Chief Executive of Powerhouse, the museum has received more than 2,000 individual message submissions. These contributions reflect a broad global engagement with the project.

Global Participation

The messages collected originate from individuals in over 83 countries and have been submitted in a total of 68 different languages. This wide-ranging participation highlights a diverse international interest in contributing to the deep space message initiative. Over 1,700 individuals have reportedly recorded messages for the project.
