Five Dead in Wauna, Washington Incident Involving Stabbing and No-Contact Order
On Tuesday morning, five individuals, including a 32-year-old suspect, died in Wauna, Washington. The incident involved a man who allegedly stabbed four people in the street.
Incident Details
At approximately 8:40 AM, Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a no-contact order violation at a residence in Wauna. Deputies obtained a copy of the order, determined it had not been formally served on the suspect, and proceeded to the location to serve it.
While deputies were en route, several emergency calls reported a man stabbing individuals in the street at the same address. Witnesses observed at least one victim being stabbed in the street. The first deputy arrived within three minutes, and shots were subsequently fired.
Three victims died at the scene, and a fourth victim died later at a hospital from their injuries. The 32-year-old suspect also died.
Background on No-Contact Order
Pierce County court records indicate that a woman residing at the address obtained a one-year protection order against her 32-year-old son in May of the previous year.
The mother had documented concerns regarding her son's mental health and substance abuse issues. She reported previous physical pushing and recent threats, including a statement that her “grave has been already dug up.”
Additional statements from the mother described the son as threatening her, engaging in mental and emotional abuse, practicing “witchcraft/occult behavior and doing rituals” in her home, damaging personal belongings, and harming her cat. She identified herself as an elderly disabled woman, stating her son was taking advantage of her health.
Court records show the son was notified of a hearing for the restraining order but did not appear. The protective order mandated that the son not possess dangerous weapons, maintain a distance of 1,000 feet from his mother, her vehicle, and their shared address, and adhere to a previously prescribed mental health treatment plan, including medication.
