Breeze Airways Soars with 17 New Routes Launching in July
Breeze Airways is set to launch 17 new routes across 15 cities in July, significantly expanding its service network. The Utah-based airline will begin operations at Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) on July 2 and Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) on July 3.
From both Birmingham and Tallahassee, Breeze will offer nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). This expansion is a key part of the airline's strategy to connect underserved markets with direct service, aiming to reduce travel time for passengers.

David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze, stated that the airline addresses a gap in the industry by providing affordable, nonstop service to markets. He noted that the new routes aim to reduce travel time for passengers.
Competitive Landscape
Breeze's expansion occurs amid changing competitive dynamics within the aviation industry. Six of the new routes either compete with Spirit Airlines or fill service gaps left by the carrier, which is reducing its operations.
Furthermore, Breeze will step in to replace existing services:
- Silver Airways flights to TLH (following Silver's scheduled shutdown in 2025).
- JetBlue Airways flights to JAX (ending in March).
The airline will face direct competition on several of its new routes:
- Allegiant Air: FLL-GSP and PIT-MYR
- JetBlue: FLL-CHS and FLL-TPA
- Southwest Airlines: FLL-TPA, CMH-TPA, and PIT-MYR
Breeze's increased presence at FLL may lead to competition with JetBlue, which is also significantly expanding its operations at that airport. Currently, Breeze accounts for less than 1% of scheduled seats at FLL.
