Caserio Dismisses C.J. Stroud Trade Rumors as 'Moronic'

Houston Texans General Manager Nick Caserio has emphatically addressed recent speculation regarding a potential trade involving quarterback C.J. Stroud. Stroud, now entering his fourth NFL season, has been a key figure, leading the Texans to the divisional round in each of his first three years.

Discussions about a possible trade gained momentum following Stroud's performance in Houston's recent playoff loss to the Patriots, where he threw four interceptions. This outing fueled various conversations about his future with the team.

Speaking from the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Caserio directly refuted these trade rumors, stating that speculation about the Texans trading Stroud is "moronic" and that the quarterback is "not going anywhere" ahead of the 2026 season.

Caserio's comments, reported by multiple outlets, leave no room for ambiguity regarding the team's stance on their starting quarterback.

Upcoming Contract Decisions

While trade rumors have been firmly put to rest, the Texans do have significant contract decisions to make concerning Stroud this offseason. He is currently eligible for an extension, presenting the team with the opportunity to secure him on a long-term deal. Alternatively, Houston also holds the option to exercise a contract option for the 2027 season, which could defer a longer-term agreement and provide additional time for evaluation.
