Netflix Unveils First Look at 'Pride and Prejudice' Series
Netflix has provided a first look at its upcoming "Pride and Prejudice" series. The adaptation stars Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy.
Dolly Alderton, author of "Everything I Know About Love," adapted the six-episode series for the screen. The series is scheduled for release in the fall. A press release indicates the series aims to faithfully adapt Jane Austen's story for existing and new audiences.
Alderton commented on the production, stating that the project is an opportunity to retell a well-known story and explore new ways to present the book. She expressed enthusiasm for reintroducing the characters to viewers with the series' cast and director.
Creative Team and Production Details
A short teaser for the series was released on Tuesday. Euros Lyn, known for "Heartstopper," directed the series.
Executive producers for the series include Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point. Alderton, Lyn, and Corrin also serve as executive producers. Lisa Osborne is the producer.
Full Cast Revealed
The extensive cast includes Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, and Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet. Jamie Demetriou takes on the role of Mr. Collins, while Daryl McCormack is cast as Mr. Bingley. Louis Partridge will play Mr. Wickham.
Further cast members include Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg. Hopey Parish will portray Mary Bennet, and Hollie Avery is cast as Kitty Bennet.
