A couple from Kazakhstan has been charged in connection with an alleged fraud operation at a casino in Sydney, Australia.
New South Wales Police reported that Dilnoza Israilova, 36, and Alisherykhoja Israilov, 44, allegedly obtained A$1,179,412.50 by employing hidden electronic devices.
Casino staff in Sydney's Barangaroo neighborhood reportedly identified Ms. Israilova wearing a small, discrete camera on her T-shirt. Subsequently, police searched the couple and allegedly discovered additional items, including earpieces, magnetised probes, and a mirror attachment for a phone. These devices were reportedly connected to mobile phones to capture and view images of card games.
The couple was arrested and charged with dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage. They currently remain in custody.
According to New South Wales Police, the pair arrived in Sydney from Kazakhstan in October and applied for casino membership on the same day. Over the subsequent weeks, they made multiple visits to the casino, which reportedly raised suspicions among staff leading to their apprehension.
