WhatsApp Developing Scheduled Messages Feature
Meta is currently developing a scheduled messages feature for WhatsApp, a highly anticipated addition to the popular messaging platform. New references indicating this functionality were discovered in a recent TestFlight beta version of the app.
While the feature is still under development and not yet accessible for beta testing, WABetaInfo has reported on its presence. Evidence includes a screenshot from the Group Info interface.
This screenshot clearly shows a 'Scheduled Messages' menu item, positioned beneath the 'Media, links and docs' and 'Starred' options.
Scheduled messages are a common and widely adopted feature in other prominent messaging platforms, including Telegram and iMessage. Until now, WhatsApp users desiring similar functionality have had to employ various workarounds, such as using the Shortcuts app, to achieve comparable results.
Details regarding the full scope of WhatsApp's implementation remain somewhat unclear. It is presently unknown whether the feature will incorporate advanced options, such as Telegram's 'Repeat' function, which allows messages to be scheduled for automatic delivery at regular, recurring intervals.
Following its initial development phase, the scheduled messages feature is expected to be rolled out to a limited number of beta testers. This select group will provide crucial initial feedback, helping to refine the feature before its official release to all WhatsApp users.
