Mexico Deploys Thousands of Troops After Drug Lord's Death

Mexico has deployed thousands of soldiers to reinforce security measures following a wave of violence across parts of the country.

This action follows the death of a powerful drug lord.

Defence Secretary Ricardo Trevilla confirmed an additional 2,500 soldiers have been dispatched to western Mexico, bringing the total deployment to 9,500 personnel since Sunday.

The unrest began after Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho," died in custody on Sunday.

He had been captured by Mexican special forces in Jalisco.
