Mexico Confirms Death of Top Cartel Leader; CJNG Unleashes Violence

Mexico's defense ministry confirmed the death of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) drug cartel, identified as the nation's most wanted man.

The security operation resulting in the cartel leader's death was viewed favorably in both Mexico and the United States.

Following the event, the CJNG initiated violent actions across Mexico, which included setting vehicles alight, establishing roadblocks, and attacking security forces in eight states.

Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo subsequently called for calm among the population.
