Richmond's Mykelti Lefau Banned Following DUI Incident

Richmond footballer Mykelti Lefau has received a club-imposed ban and will not participate in round one of the season. The ban follows an incident where Lefau recorded a blood alcohol reading more than twice the legal limit while driving. The player's driver's licence has been suspended for 10 months.

Mykelti Lefau will miss Richmond's pre-season match and Round 1 of the AFL season after receiving a club-imposed ban.

Club Imposes Strict Sanctions

As part of the club's disciplinary action, Lefau will miss Friday's pre-season match against Melbourne in Ballarat and the traditional season-opening game against Carlton.

Additionally, he is required to make a $2500 donation to a relevant charity and undertake alcohol behavioural change counselling.

Lefau Acknowledges 'Poor Choice'

Lefau issued a statement acknowledging the incident, expressing his regret.

"I made a really poor choice, and I am deeply embarrassed by what has taken place."
