Treasury Secretary Bessent Addresses Trump's Security and Political Violence
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently spoke with former President Trump, according to Bessent's statements to Fox News. Bessent confirmed that Trump and his family are safe, adding that they "shouldn't have to endure attempt after attempt."
Bessent noted that the security perimeter around the former president is robust, and the Secret Service's capabilities have improved since an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024.
He attributed political violence to the left, stating:
"This existential threat, this venom from the left really has to stop. They've normalised this violence."
The motive of the suspect involved in the recent incident remains unclear.
