Rondale Moore, Former NFL Receiver, Dies at 25

Rondale Moore, a 25-year-old former NFL wide receiver, died on Saturday night in New Albany, Indiana, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Circumstances of Death

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey confirmed that Moore was found inside a garage. A forensic autopsy was conducted on Sunday. The Floyd County coroner’s office is leading the death investigation, in collaboration with the New Albany Police Department.

Professional Career Overview

Rondale Moore was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. During his three seasons with the Cardinals, he recorded a total of 135 catches for 1,201 yards, catching 54 passes in his rookie year (2021).

His professional career was significantly impacted by several injuries. He experienced hamstring issues in 2022 and sustained significant knee injuries in both 2024 and 2025.

Following his tenure with the Cardinals, Moore joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 but missed the entire season due to a knee injury. After extensive rehabilitation, he signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2025 season. He sustained a torn ACL during his first kick return in the team’s initial preseason game with the Vikings.

Collegiate Achievements

Before his NFL career, Moore was a prominent college receiver at Purdue University. In 2018, he set freshman records with 114 receptions, 1,258 yards, and 12 touchdowns, earning All-American honors.
