Zoe Atkin Claims Halfpipe Bronze, Great Britain Matches Medal Record

Freestyle skier Zoe Atkin secured a bronze medal in the women's halfpipe event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. This achievement marked Great Britain's fifth medal at the Games, matching the team's record for total medals.

Atkin, 23, improved her score to 92.50 during her final run, placing her half a point from the silver medal position.

China's Eileen Gu won the gold medal with a score of 94.75, marking her first gold after two silvers in the current Games. Li Fanghui, also from China, secured the silver medal.

A Sister's Shared Olympic Success

Atkin's bronze medal equals the achievement of her sister, Izzy Atkin, who won Team GB's first Olympic skiing medal with a slopestyle bronze eight years prior in Pyeongchang.

Zoe Atkin expressed her anticipation and emotions regarding her achievement, noting the significance of matching her sister's 2018 Olympic bronze.

Great Britain's Historic Medal Haul

Great Britain's current medal tally stands at five, comprising three golds, one silver, and one bronze.

This total matches the team's previous record medal hauls from the 2014 Sochi Games and the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.

The team's success in these Games marks their most successful Winter Olympics to date. This follows Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale securing the second gold medal in mixed team snowboard cross. Historically, Great Britain had not won more than one gold medal at a single Winter Games prior to this event.
